Crank them how you want this weekend my dude, but I’m taking the Slaughterhouse and 1982 records to a house party, gonna set that spot off! And I’m banging the Sean Born record in my whip the whole weekend. SWAG!
April 19 marked the two year anniversay of the untimely death of Guru, of the famed Hip Hop duo Gangstarr.
Guru can be summed up in two words “Hip Hop”. Guru was and always will be Hip Hop. Together Guru and DJ Premier created timeless records. They created hip hop music in it’s purest and illest form, dope beats and dope rhymes! They stayed true to their music and never changed their concept to sell records. YOU CAN NOT, and I repeat YOU CAN NOT claim to be a fan of Hip Hop if you do not at least have an appreciation for Gangstarr’s music. And if you have never heard of Guru and/or Gangstarr you’re not allowed to discuss hip hop music with me because that’s like claiming to be an NBA fan and not knowing who Larry Bird or Magic Johnson are. Guru’s music inspires me and I hope brothas and sistas y’all keep playing his records. As Mister Cee put it on his Hot 97 Guru Tribute Mix "The boy Guru didn’t have hits. The boy Guru had catalogs". So this weekend y’all turn the volume up and crank some Guru records hard body! RIP Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal!
